Which country is most popular with tourists?
Searching for the answer to that question, we went to the data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on the popularity of vacation spots worldwide.
It turns out that Australia is the most popular destination for vacationers, with over two million trips made per year, followed by Germany, with 2.3 million, the United Kingdom, with 1.8 million and the United States, with 921,000.
The country with the most visitors per capita is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which saw an average of more than one million visitors per day in 2017.
The United Kingdom is followed by the United states of Australia, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
For the first time, it seems the US has surpassed Canada as the top destination for holiday travel.
While the number of Americans who make a trip to Canada has fallen since 2012, the number who visit the US increased slightly from 2016.
The UK has been the most frequent tourist destination in the UK for more than a decade now, and the US is only one of the five countries that still account for almost all of the country’s annual tourists.
The US is now the top tourist destination of Europe.
