How to dive in Panama City with Bonaire Scuba Diving and Bonaire Dive
Panama City, Panama (AP) Diving in the Caribbean?
Bonaire is the only place in the world to go diving in the middle of the night with its lighted barbed wire and a narrow bay where the water is almost never frozen.
Diving with Bonairies Dive, a company that offers dive tours in the Cayman Islands, has been in business since 2007.
The company’s website describes it as “a group of dedicated dive guides who dive for fun, excitement and adventure.”
It describes itself as a “full service diving facility for divers of all ages, skills and experience levels,” offering guided dives, guided instruction, diving lessons and other activities.
Diver Ryan Smith said his first trip to Panama was in 2008.
He spent six months there before returning to New York City in 2015.
“I loved it.
I loved the atmosphere,” Smith said.
“You feel like you’re on the edge of the world.”
Smith said he started diving at a very young age.
He said he spent two summers as a youth diving in Cuba and was fascinated by the depth and diversity of the ocean.
“My favorite thing to do was go underwater and see the world,” Smith told ABC News.
“It was so beautiful.”
The Panama-born Smith said diving in Panama was different than in Cuba because the water was so deep and he was in the dark.
Dive guides are certified and undergo extensive training before they are allowed to enter the waters.
Smith said he was allowed to dive once a month for the first two months of his stay.
When he returned to New Jersey in 2015, Smith said the diving had been “really great.”
“We have a great dive team and they’re really good people, too,” he said.
“The divers are really good at diving and they’ve done it for so long.
They’ve got experience, they’ve worked for years, and they know what it takes to dive well.”
Dive divers can dive in various depths and styles, from 50 to 800 feet.
The diving is supervised by a certified instructor who has been trained in the area and holds a medical license.
“It’s a very different way of life.
It’s a whole different world, but it’s a really good way of living,” Smith added.
